THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PERFORMING ARTS
DATE:             27 March-1 April 2023
VENUE: Makerere University Kampala
THEME:       Performing Arts and the university of the 21st Century: Concepts, Training, and Practice
The Conference uses the tagline, Golden is Gold, under the theme, “Performing Arts and the university of the 21st Century: Concepts, Training, and Practice”.
NOTE: In this conference, performing Arts will embrace those artforms by which we are identified or make our livelihoods. They include creative, performed, and digital arts. They cover Music, Dance, Drama, Storytelling, Poetry, documentaries, comic strips, batik, handcrafts, and screen arts like Film, cartoons and animations. These categories and forms may inform performances and disciplines of study or research.

The Range of Students involvement and participation
The Conference will take place during the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023. The plan is intentional to involve the students and enable them to participate in the events marking 50 years of Department of Performing Arts and Film. However, to participate, the students will register, as any other delegates if they are to get full access to the Conference.
Students’ Registration Fees: At only UGX 100,000 (approximately US$ 27) their registration fee has been reduced greatly to the bare minimum that could cover their meals.
Conference Kit: The students will get the Conference Programme. However, it would be great if they could also get the planned trendy Conference bag (approx. US$ 16.) and resources to engage in the
Students’ participation in the “Give Back to the Community Humanitarian Service Activity”, the Reading Action Programme, on 3 March 2023 to inspire the children / pupils in this primary school study hard and get to the University. The primary school started as a demonstration school for Makerere College then. Students’ participation is envisaged to be equivalent to approx. US$ 5 dollars per person.
For the memory of a lifetime, the students could also participate in the DPAF Alumni dinner taking place earlier in February 2023. The dinner is a celebration of DPAF’s 50 years but will fundraise for the Amphitheatre, Filming Studios, and Audio / Listening Labs for training and practice, since Makerere University’s Main Hall is no more, and the available teaching resources do not cover these needs. Cards will range from US$ 27 to US$ 200.
Any donations towards the students’ involvement and participation in these events is very much welcome.
Payments can be made into the Conference Bank Account (details below), clearly marked “Towards Students’ Participation”. THANK YOU!
